Well it certainly feels like spring is here – its March 1st and the sky is blue at least here up north, and the sun is shining. The onset of spring always inspires me to think about new beginnings. And for those of you with websites stuck on page 2 and lower it is time to get some SEO.
You may have put it off because of the jargon, or a trust issue with SEO companies, or because it seems so unachievable – there are so many websites to beat!
There are also many SEO companies who promise the earth but after you have paid out £1,000s a month for a year you find you are not on page 1. So who can you trust?
First thing is to check where the company itself is landing for its own keyphrases – ask them before you sign up. This way you can check whether what they promise they can deliver for themselves first and foremost. Would you take your car to a mechanic who cannot even fix his own car?
Getting on page 1 requires SEO consultants to keep abreast of the theory of SEO. It is not a one time solution for the problem of getting on page 1. It is a growing and developing technology with ever changing and adapating rules and algorithms.
I have even had a conversation with a client’s web designer, who asserted that ‘he knew everything about SEO and then went on to describe old black hat rubbish that would certainly prompt Google and other search engines to penalise your website.
This sums up that there are a good few people in the industry who do not keep upto date with the algorithms that are rolled out by Google on a regular basis and will then get your website in a lot of trouble.
So you must find a company that is run by intelligent enthusiastic SEOs who keep fully informed by the changes in SEO and love the challenge of getting your website on page 1. Don’t go for a company using old black hat strategies.
